在報考時我們經常提到“本科(kē)”、“專科(kē)”，“本科(kē)教育（undergraduate education）”，與專科(kē)教育（junior college education）、研究生(shēng)教育（graduate education）構成高等教育内部的3個層次，爲高等教育的主幹部分(fēn)。
而“一本”是“本科(kē)一批”的簡稱，指“在高考錄取招生(shēng)期間于本科(kē)層次第一批次招生(shēng)的學校(xiào)”，英語可(kě)以翻譯爲“the first batch of universities for students to apply”。
例句：
北京也将本科(kē)一批、二批合并，設置16所平行志願高校(xiào)，每個志願高校(xiào)設置6個志願專業。
